Twelve-By Lauren Myracle

I have just recently started twelve. Even though I have recently started this book, I feel it already is one of my favorite books. I love reading a book that you cannot put it down, this book fits that category. Winnie has a big character to her. Turning eleven was not that great for her, but turning twelve is going to be HUGE! Winnie wants to be herself not a made up girl, with makeup and lipstick. Her old friend Sandra was that kind of girl. I feel Winnie is a strong girl, she has been through lots of strong arguments between her friends.  I would recommend this book to girls my age. I really am enjoying this book, and I would hope that someone else would to. The cover of this book tells the story of Winnie. It really makes the book and the cover come together and make a great story. I take a glance at the cover every once in a while to think about how Winnie really looks and feels. I feel the author did a great job putting together a story of a teenage girl and her life. I really like to read stories about girls my age. Other books that are fantasy, I am not really interested in. I also think that the author made Winnie and her friends very descriptive of there personal features. I hope you read this book sometime and think of the things I said and the things you think. Hope you like it.

  8. Hi - the above comment that says that it is from me is actually from Hayley - I think we have that fixed now.

Anyway - I really like Lauren Myracle - she writes books that are funny, thoughtful, and totally real when it comes to being a young person today. Because she writes about real issues in real ways her books are sometimes challenged in school libraries as "inappropriate to their age group." And that's because she dare to actually write books that are about the things that happen to kids (girls especially) from age 10-18. I think all that shows is that some adults are totally clueless about what it's like to be 12.

    But not Lauren Myracle.
